Originated by musical director Cy Payne, Going Solo is a series of tapes and music designed to give students the chance to play with an orchestral and rhythm accompaniment in a modern style in the privacy of their own home.
In a career spanning over 60 years Cy has worked in TV, films, records and has arranged for many top artist including Elton John, Cliff Richards, Billy Ocean, Shirley Bassey, Bruce Forsyth, Michael Barrymore and Julio Iglesias. He has also arranged many classical works for symphony orchestras including Holst's "Planet Suite" and Respighi's "Pines of Rome" for the London Symphonic Wind Orchestra. Cy has worked with many of the military bands, the most recent being The Band of the Life Guards for whom he has arranged and produced a CD including "Pomp and Circumstance No1", "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" and four of the Handel "Coronation Anthems". He has also arranged for Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean and BBCTV's "Come Dancing".
